COMEDY
Elf Lyons: Pelican
Elf Lyons (Feminist Times' One to Watch) sometimes wants to kill her mother. So she’s made a show about it. Do other people feel like this? A recent graduate from L'Ecole Philippe Gaulier, Elf explores the age-old fear of turning into your mother and what it means to have it all… Media Eye Rising Star 2016. ‘Enthusiastically peculiar... sexy, nerdy and funny’ (Chortle.co.uk). ‘Endearingly eccentric... She has a knack for fostering the desire to be her new best friend’ (Fest). ‘A stand-out Fringe show from a vibrant and energetic performer’ (Skinny).
THEATRE
JOAN
Put your drinks down and your hands together, all the way from Domremy in France (via Soho and 600 years) it's JOAN! An earthy story of courage, conviction, hope, survival and love, this is Joan of Arc - the world's first drag king? Packed with guts, heart (and some well placed couscous), JOAN fuses lyrical new writing with drag king cabaret. Performed by Drag Idol Champion LoUis CYfer. Written and directed by Lucy J Skilbeck. 'Emotional ballast and cross-dressing that looks like sorcery' (Guardian) on JOAN. 'Theatre that flies in the face of conventionality' **** (Stage) on Milk Presents.
THEATRE
Bucket List
Multi award-winning Theatre Ad Infinitum (Translunar Paradise, Ballad of the Burning Star, Light) presents the powerful story of one Mexican woman’s fight for justice. When her mother is murdered for protesting corporate and governmental corruption, Milagros finds herself with only a bloodstained list of those responsible. Determined to make them pay, Milagros embarks on a passionate quest for justice, no matter the cost. Using physical storytelling, live instrumental music and song, Ad Infinitum unfolds a story about love, loss and revenge. Winners: Stage Award 2009 and 2013.
MENTALIST
Colin Cloud: Exposé
Colin Cloud returns with an exposé… of you. He has the wit of a comedian, the intensity of a hypnotist and the allure of Sherlock Holmes himself. A complete sell-out in 2014 and 2015. The show will extend beyond 60 minutes as Colin invites you, the audience, to solve a mystery with him on the streets of Edinburgh. Warning: Do not think about anything you wouldn’t want Colin to know or reveal. ‘A lesson in the art of deduction’ (Skinny). ‘Cumberbatch’s Sherlock Holmes in the Flesh’ (EdFestMag.com). ***** (Edinburgh Evening News).
PUPPETRY
Meet Fred
'Prejudice against puppetry is the only acceptable form of prejudice' (David Sefton, Artistic Director, Adelaide International Festival). A cloth puppet fights prejudice every day. Fred just wants to be a regular guy, part of the real world, to get a job, meet a girl and settle down, but when threatened with losing his PLA (Puppetry Living Allowance), Fred’s life begins to spiral out of control. Contains strong language and puppet nudity.
MUSIC/COMEDY
Axis of Awesome
Jordan, Lee and Benny are back with a brand new hour of world-class musical comedy. They've toured all over the earth and their videos have over 200 million hits online. They've even got a plaque from YouTube. A plaque! 'Fringe legends! The only downside to the show? It should be longer' ***** (ThreeWeeks).
