Fringe Institution Mervyn Stutter is back once more presenting his much loved by all The Pick of the Fringe, and while it is in its 29th year the format doesn’t really alter, if you have a winning formula, and he has, then why change it.

Enjoying a 22nd season with one of the most-established revue shows on the Fringe circuit, Mervyn Stutter at one point implores his audience to ‘pass the message on’ about his variety show, suggesting ‘We don’t get many reviews any more. Everyone knows what this show is all about.’ Perhaps this is true.

The Fringe can be intimidating, can’t it? With venues spread apart and hidden, and so much to do. Mervyn Stutter’s show showcases his best of different genres and acts from ballet to theatre, stand up to cabaret, designed to make the punter’s life easier. It’s expertly compèred by Stutter, who gets the audience warmed up and conducts informative interviews with the acts.

Mervyn Stutter’s shows are an Edinburgh institution and at least half the audience appeared to be regular attendees (judging by the enthusiastic hand raising when he asked the question). Mervyn has a team of elves out checking all the shows on at the Fringe and picking a select few to appear on his stage for our pleasure.
