THEATRE
Macho Like Me
The true account of Helie Lee's remarkable six-month journey living as a man. Between the weight lifting, crew cut and a new wardrobe, Helie's excited to start her new life as Harry. But passing as a man is harder than it looks. Despite her studious observation of men's physical behaviours and mannerisms, Helie is initially unable to shake her own. And although she sets out to prove the point that men have it so much better than women, her assumptions are quickly dashed, resulting in a new worldview that ends up surprising many - especially herself.
THEATRE
How (Not) To Live in Suburbia
Five years ago, in the middle of a shitstorm of life events, artist, single mother and committed urbanite Annie Siddons found herself living in suburbia by accident. This hilarious, honest and brutal show with films by Annie, and live artist Richard deDomenici, is the story of the loneliness that ensued and Annie's earnest, but wrong-footed attempts to cure it. Praise for Annie's previous work: ‘Shiningly original narrative… moving and macabre’ **** (List). ‘Untamed, brilliant writing… A one-woman rollercoaster ride’ **** (Fest). ‘Impressively original… hovers around the sublime’ **** (BroadwayBaby.com).
MUSIC/THEATRE
Erik Satie's - Faction
The French composer of the beautiful Gymnopedies described himself as 'a pretentious cretin whose music makes people laugh and shrug their shoulders.' See if you agree as BAFTA-winning impressionist and Olivier award-nominated actor Alistair McGowan plays several of Satie's well known, ground-breaking piano pieces and delivers his own take on Esoterik, Satie's never-before performed and often surreal articles and poems. A new, unique, warm, witty, intelligent and moving show.
